LT8642S doesn't have sequence requirement for EN and VIN. EN can be applied after VIN is ready.
I have been testing a new part, the LT8642S. All looks good but I have seen a low frequency signal content on the output ripple.
This is the test circuit:
Looking before and after the output ripple filter I can see the ripple due to switching at 1MHz…
and LT8642 LTspice jig is the only one from this family I could get to sync to an external clock.
I am curious to learn what can be the reason.
To get a 5V 7A from 12VDC, the power dissipation is 49W, which is too much for LDOs. By using two LT1084s in parallel, the power loss on each LDO is still high, 24.5W. A buck converter is a good choice, such as LT8642S. If using LDO is the only choice…
