• RE: Heating issue of AD734

+/-15V times 12 mA is over a third of a watt.  Sounds like it should get hot.

The AD734 and AD636 are rather old parts;  have you looked at some of the newer RMS-DC  parts such as the LTC1967?

  • RE: RMS-to-DC for Sound Pressure Level measurement

Thank you both for your help !

Indeed the AD636 datasheet speaks of "averaging time" instead of "settling time" on the AD737 (or did I read it wrong ?) witch is what I was looking for.

And considering the price difference between…

  • AD636 rms to dc Operation

    Hi,

I have a signal coming from a sensor which is DC and AC, I want to use AD636 as a RMS to DC converter.

    I have few questions:

    1. Can AD636 be used for DC and AC signals together? My sensor has a 2.5V offset on which AC and DC signals vary.
    2. Does…
  • AD636 with 0-230 VAC Input

    Hi,

I'm building a voltage measurement device for measuring 0-230 VAC input for a light dimmer. I just learnt about Analog Devices AD536 and AD636 ICs. I have the following doubts:

    1. I want millivolt precision for detecting voltages; can you provide…

  • RE: Differential voltage 0 to 300 milli Volts across a shunt

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your time and detailed response, Response time can be minimized with your guidelines.

I meet my Specification/Requirement with AD636 but the only problem is I do not have the space for AD636 in my PCB, So I felt like AD736…

  • RE: AD8436 noise senstivity at startup

To improve the accuracy of AD8436 especially at small input, what is the recommended external trims for the offset and scale factors? will the similiar measures applied to AD636 work?

  • AD636_figure 17 input floating noise filtering

One customer has two questions regarding the figure 17 in AD636 datasheet. 1.
He said if there is no Vin connected, there will be interference coupled on

  • RE: something on compressor/limiter blocks

         Hi all,

ADI is better than most companies for supporting older products.  I was a young man when designing the AD636 analog RMS-DC converter into a test system, and that IC is still available today.

  • Heating issue of AD734

    I am using AD734 as a RMS-to-DC Converter(Page no 16 of datasheet).
My circuit is same as that of given in datasheet. But IC is getting heated to 72 celsius (or 161 F) when I am giving 1 to 100 Hz sinewave sweep (T=20 sec) periodically at input.
    Is it…
