You have been bounced around with this, it must be frustrating.

The firmware on the SDP-B is a "black box". I expect that the same example/approach you discussed with the Blackfin team will work on the SDP-B, but we don't have any example firmware code that we can make available to you to modify to suit your use case - you'll have to start from zero.

Can I ask again what the end goal is here, and could you add a diagram? If I was starting from zero and trying to read data from the AD7616 I would connect an external microcontroller board to the serial interface pins on J5 on the evaluation board, force the AD7616 into serial mode rather than parallel and use SPI to read/write. That reflects my own experience with microcontrollers and the fact that the firmware for the Blackfin was completed long before I joined the team. Of course maybe there is a specific requirement of your use case that means this isn't a suitable direction.

thank you for your detailed response.
The end goal is to read an anlog Signal from any of the input channels, convert it to a digital signal with the AD7616 and then transfer the digital information to a Microcontroller.

If I get this right, you can transmit the data from one of the input channels of AD7616 evaluation board  and transfer it via SPI? That would work for us, if it is possible.

There is an example of using the AD7616 functionality, but it is targeted at a Xilinx FPGA platform so wouldn't run as-is on your micro - no-OS/projects/ad7616-sdz/src at master · analogdevicesinc/no-OS · GitHub . There is an accompanying wiki page, AD7616 User Guide [Analog Devices Wiki].

I'm not an expert on the AD7616, but the source code probably uses normal 4 wire SPI - you will need to refer to the AD7616 data sheet for the exact way to enable that. The Par/Ser pin will need to be pulled up (you may need to solder a link, consult the schematic) and there may be additional steps. You can then bring Ground and SPI SCLK, MOSI, MISO and CS jumper leads, along with any other necessary control GPIOs from your micro to the relevant pins on the J5 header on the AD7616 eval board.
