TES Connection failure with ADRV9002 evaluation card + ZCU102

Hello,

I have connection failure with ADRV9002 evaluation card + ZCU102.

Attached is error log.

I downloaded tools from following site:

www.analog.com/.../transceiver-evaluation-software.html

ADRV9001-SDK Evaluation Software (ZIP)

Download SD Card Image Making Software (zip)

I followed instructions bellow to make SD card for ZCU102.

ez.analog.com/.../a-sd-card-image-sdk-13-or-higher

SD card I made includes following files:

- System Volume Information (folder)

- adrv9001_zcu102_cmos.bin

- adrv9001_zcu102_lvds.bin

- BOOT.bin

- Image

- system.dtb

- uEnv.txt

Ping to 192.168.1.10 is ok.

No security software on laptop PC.

There exists Adrv9001Server_B0_39.0.7, however when I tried to start it manually,

segmentation fault occurred. (see attached cmd_log.txt)

  • Hi Mori,

To the best of my knowledge the ZCU102 board is not fully supported yet, this platform should be supported soon though. The guide posted on EngineerZone Documents does mention that it has not been supported as of the Day 13 release, however we have not nailed down yet which release will support it.

There is one issue with your setup however, you have the clock input on the far right of the board set to External, rather than Internal. Flip the switch on the far right of the board, between the SMA connector and the standoff, to the other end. This should allow the on board clock to be used by the ADRV9002. You can try making that edit and seeing if the device connects, do let us know if you're successful.

One final thing to double check. You're trying to run the B0 server, make certain that it's the B0 silicon that you have. If it's C0 silicon then the B0 server will not work. If this is not an issue for your setup then it's likely the support isn't there yet for ZCU102.

    All the best,

    Oisín.

  • Hello,

today I downloaded the tools and build the SDCARD.
    System is booting.

But only the B0 server is listed.

    root@linaro-developer:/home/analog/adrv9001_server/resources/Adi.Adrv9001.Server#
    # ls
    Adrv9001Server_B0_37.0.0

I used a virgin SDCard and a empty temp folder.

It seems that mori has a newer version "Adrv9001Server_B0_39.0.7  Adrv9001Server_C0_39.07"

     Where can I get version 39 ?

    Best regard Stefan

  • Hello BPS,

We have a guide for downloading and installing the SD card image on the EngineerZone forum. Navigate to the following link:

    https://ez.analog.com/wide-band-rf-transceivers/tes-gui-software-support-adrv9001-adrv9007/

Then select the "Documents" tab in the blue ribbon at the top of the page:

Select SD Card Image and select the guide you need.

If you've followed this guide already and still it hasn't worked, then I suggest running it again. A few of our customers have noted a difficulty connecting to the server and getting a reliable download. Future revisions of Software will attempt to mitigate this, but following this guide should provide you with a stable SD card image.

Do let me know how you get on with this!

    All the best,

    Oisín.

  • I followed the guid several times. But no success.
First of all. I can only find the Adrv9001Server_B0_37.0.0 server in:

    /home/analog/adrv9001_server/resources/Adi.Adrv9001.Server

But I need the C0 version.

The IP address 192.168.1.10 also not set.

    Have you any hint

  • I have the same issue. The RPC server seems to be erroring on the ZCU102:

    root@linaro-developer:/tmp# dmesg | grep -i adrv
    [ 139.517912] Adrv9001Server_[3716]: unhandled level 3 translation fault (11) at 0x00000023, esr 0x92000007, in Adrv9001Server_B0_39.0.7[8000+153000]

  • Hi BPS, Travis,

There are a couple of reasons these issues could be occurring.

    1) During the SD card download you selected the "Legacy" option under Step 1. Doing so will download an SD card image that suits TES v.0.12.0 or older. Given the amount of changes between v0.12.0 and the current v0.14.0, the respective SD card images are completely incompatible.

    2) During the image formatting you selected the ZCU102 platform. This platform is not yet support, although that should change by the end of the month. Once the ZCU102 is support, try again. We should then be able to support C0 on that platform.

Based on your descriptions of your issues it sounds like scenario 2 is what's what's happened? If you're both working on the newest version of SD card image this would explain your IP address issues. As of v0.14.0, we no longer assign a static IP address of 192.168.1.10.

DHCP is now enabled by default on the FPGA, which means that instead of using the static IP address 192.168.1.10, the FPGA now requests an IP address and a DHCP server (router) will give it an IP address. If there is no router i.e. when the FPGA is connected directly to your PC, it will fall back on the normal 192.168.1.10 address.

Practically, this means you can connect as normal if you’re connected directly to the FPGA but if you connect your FPGA to a router, you must find the IP address and put that into TES.

Let me know if this answers your questions.

    Best Regards,

    Oisín.
