ad9371 ORX noise raised at frequency edges

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ad9371

Settings:

ad9371 orx IQrate 245.76MHz, bandwidth 200MHz,

Using the following Orx filter config generated by ad9371 filter wizard

<adcDiv=1>
<rxFirDecimation=1>
<rxDec5Decimation=5>
<enHighRejDec5=1>
<rhb1Decimation=1>

<rfBandwidth_Hz=200000000>
<rxBbf3dBCorner_kHz=100000>

But the received orx signal has raised noise at frequency edge.

if i turn off the signal, the noise looks not flat,check the red curve in following figure.

I try some dec5 filter coefs, no big change.

thanks

  • So, this is due to the typical sigma delta ADC behavior of the chip. If  you increase the oversampling ratio, that is, the decimation rates for the Half band and the FIR filters, then this will push the noise further and you will see flatter noise floor.

    You need to filter out the edges externally if you want to use higher sampling rates or use a lower sampling rate and BW to mitigate this issue.
