Connecting MxFE JESD204B in Loopback/No Processor

Hello there,

I was interested in seeing if we could naively connect integrated transceivers together via JESD240B, but without having a processor in between them. Is there any reason I would need a FPGA/Processor in between? Specific use case is having AD9081 or AD9082 connected "back to back" on the PCB. I don't see anything immediately wrong with this in hardware/electrical reasons, but I am not sure if i there is something to the JESD PHY that may be only on the processor side.

Thanks,

Brady

Hello,

The device has a loopback mode allowing the output of the ADC data path to be looped back into the DAC data path with loopback occurring in the JESD204 transport layer FIFO hence no physical connections are required when you configure the JTx and JRx link to the the same LMFS configuration and you use JESD204C mode.
