 &lt;p&gt;Referring to the datasheet, Section &amp;quot;Receiver Calibration in GFSK/FSK Mode&amp;quot; on page 60, the Frequency Synthesizer will need 18us+ 52us + 80us to start-up and calibrate the Frequency Synthesizer .&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;However, Figure 94 also shows an Offset Correction Loop (OCL) static and dynamic calibration.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;The total calibration time is then 664us.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;A blanking interval of 664us is too slow for any resonably&amp;nbsp; Fast Frequency Hopping Spread (FHSS) scheme.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;1) Is OCL calibration required before using a new frequency?&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;2) Is there any way of reducing calibration time (i.e. by using stored calibrated data)?&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;3) Please confirm what the lowest achievable blanking period time can be.&lt;/p&gt;

 &lt;p&gt;reg10: 0x0896355a&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;reg14: 0x0000001e&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;reg15: 0x0000000f&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;I observe the following:&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;ol&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;If I program the chip after turning the transmitter on, audio is fine and I can read an RSSI value from register 7 that makes sense.&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;If I program the chip and THEN turn the transmitter on, audio quality is really bad and the RSSI value is low even though the filter gain and LNA Gain are set at maximum (2 and 2).&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;When I have proper audio quality and degrade the signal such that AGC sets the Filter and LNA Gain to maximum, then it doesn&amp;#39;t reduce the gain again when I restore a good signal quality, and the RSSI value read back is still extremely low.&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;When I end up in situation 2. or 3., reprogramming the chip (All the above mentioned registers, in the way it is advised to in the datasheet), good audio quality is restored and RSSI reading makes sense again.&lt;/li&gt;
 &lt;/ol&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;So, my question is simple: what can be the reason for that? I haven&amp;#39;t found any article describing any similar problem in this forum so I guess there&amp;#39;s nothing wrong with the chip in the first place.&lt;/p&gt;

 &lt;p&gt;My firmware is not able to read RSSI level on ADF7021-N mounted on a specific board&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;The board itself &lt;strong&gt;can be connected to the Eval board&lt;/strong&gt;,and in this case RSSI can be read,&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;It is pretty correct,i.e -60dBm RSSI vs -59 dBm on a very good spectrum analyzer.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;So i can guess that my hardware&amp;nbsp; works fine.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;If i control the ADF7021 by means of a uC i can succesfully set the Tx frequency,&lt;strong&gt;i&amp;nbsp; have correct readback of VDD,Product Id(0x2111),external ADC IN &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;but RSSI remains&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;0x500.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;To have something different i have to let ADC disabled in register 8:I this case i have &lt;span style="color:#3366ff;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;RSSI=0x52F ,&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;changing signal level has not effect.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;I use the EVB as a Tx,generating&amp;nbsp; a modulated signal,say 100MHz at2,4Kbps 1010 GFSK.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;The Rx is my bord,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;i set at 170Mhz Rx mode(synth dividers calculated 100KHz lower,169.90 Mhz), MUXOUT set to digital lock,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;i wait for it&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt; going high(in Tx it works)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;then i perform the readback in the following steps&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;1)ADC Enable setting bit 8 of register 8&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;strong style="color:#339966;"&gt;(0x108)&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;2)Setting value to write in Readback setup register :Readback for ADC out and ADC converting RSSI,Readback enabled&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;3)I write the above value&lt;span style="color:#339966;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;(0x147) &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;in Register 7 ,Readback Setup Register&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;4)I set register 0 to have RSSI_Ready&amp;nbsp; signalled on MUX_OUT ,&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;5)I wait until RSS_ Ready is high,but it it looks &lt;strong&gt;always high&lt;/strong&gt;,..why?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
 &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;6)I perform the Readback in 18 clock cycles&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
