256-QAM, 1024-QAM for adalm pluto

Category: Software
Product Number: AD9363

Is it possible to implement OFDM 256-QAM or OFDM 1024-QAM with two adalm pluto ( one transmitter and one receiver Over The Air)?

  • Hi

The Proper link establishment you need good SNR to achieve.
OFDM‑256QAM is doable with two ADALM‑Plutos over a very short, clean link (or via cable) with careful design and calibration. OFDM‑1024QAM is very unlikely to be reliable over‑the‑air with a Pluto pair due to SNR/EVM, phase‑noise, and linearity limits—but you might demonstrate it briefly over a cabled, attenuated setup with shared reference clocks and meticulous tuning.

  • Thanks  for your reply,

I need to work with OFDM 256-QAM with 10MHz bandwidth via OTA ( arround 1.5- 2 meters) with the requirement of Packet error rate less than 1%  (packet size is 1400 bytes)with code rate 0.88 or higher, should I can use adalm plutos or considering other better SDRs? note that No shared reference clocks
