ADRV9008-1: Calibration Required for Each Scan Above 100 MHz IBW?

Category: Software
Product Number: ADRV9008-1
Software Version: 2021.2

Dear Team,

We are using the ADRV9008-1 Evaluation Board and would like to use a 200 MHz IBW bandwidth for scanning.

Could you please confirm whether a calibration is required for every scan? If calibration is required, what is the maximum time it would take to complete the calibration process?

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

P Prasanth

  • What do you mean by scanning, can you please explain a bit more  on the requirement?

When the device is the radio on state, the Arm scheduler performs the tracking calibrations on a periodic basis.

Can you please check "ADRV9009 TRACKING CALIBRATION SCHEDULER" section from UG -page 165 for more details.

  • Dear Team,

Our project is search receiver and we need to sweep through the frequency range 400Mhz to 6000Mhz with 200Mhz IBw , to achieve 400Ghz/s scan rate .so will have to tune LO frequently at 200Mhz step, would like to know if we have to calibrate every time we switch to the next step.

    Regards

    P Prasanth

  • Yes, we would need to re-run the needed calibrations again.

As the frequency step change is more than 100 MHz, please follow below procedure.

    • Move the device to the radio off state.
    • Program the new LO frequency
    • Rerun the initialization calibrations by calling TALISE_runInitCals and TALISE_waitInitCals
    • Move the device back to the radio on state

Follow the " RF PLL FREQUENCY CHANGE PROCEDURE" from UG page 109.
