Need for Multichip Synchronization

Question

Hi. I have an application that requires deterministic latency between Tx and Rx channels of ADRV9002. I know that I need to do multichip synchronization to achieve this. My question is that why is there non-deterministic delay and phase even without MCS on the same ADRV9002 chip even though the source clock is same for both ADC and DAC. Shouldn't the phase and delay of Tx RX channels be sync even without the need of MCS??

Hi, 
 Without MCS, there will be a low variability in path latency. This could be measured by measuring the path latency, resetting the device and measuring the latency again etc. In some applications, this low variability might be acceptable. If true deterministic latency is needed, we recommend using MCS even on a single ADRV9002 device. 
 The section "MCS Pulses" in the user guide shows which parts of the device are synchronization during the MCS procedure. If MCS is not run, these sections won't be synchronized which will cause some low variability in latency.
