Channel power save (CPS) and Frequency Hopping (FH mode)

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADRV9002

Hi,

The "ADRV9001 System Development User Guide" (Rev. A) lacks documentation on the use and timing for CPS (Channel power save) and SPS (System power save) when in Frequency (FH) (Frequency hopping) mode.

While trying out different approaches, I only manage to get SPS to work (have tried power down mode 4).

System test setup:

FH mode: Real Time LO Re-Tune.

Hop signal inactive (On the last edge of hop signal rx_setup and tx_setup where low).

Test1: If DGPIO4 and DGPIO5 are set up as CPS control signals - nothing changes if I set these high.

Test2: If DGPIO4 is set up as SPS control signal - power consumption drops if set high (Power down mode 4).

How can I get the system to enter power-down mode 2?

  • HI Jonny,

Technically power down mode along with the FH is not supported in the current sdk but in the upcoming SDK release, we will enable a combined mode for using frequency hopping and power saving together.

    Working mechanism is as follows:

When switching from frequency hopping to power saving mode, the channel will first enter a prime state before moving to power saving mode. Conversely, when switching from power saving to frequency hopping mode, the channel will wake up, enter the prime state, and then resume frequency hopping.

Please note that power down mode between frames will not be implemented in this next release.

    Regards
