ADRV9002 12-Bit LVDS Interface Mode

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADRV9002

Hi,

In the Systems Development User's Guide, there is reference to using the 12-bit mode. “Note that in the LVDS-SSI mode, 12-bit I and Q words are supported for most sample rates.”  Where can we find the sample rates supported by this mode?

Also, the manual says the following - "In the 12-bit I/Q mode, 16-bit samples from the receive datapath are cut to 12 bits for LSSI, a configurable option to choose the 12-bit from the LSB or MSB of the 16-bit sample data." What would be the reason to choose the LSB?

Thanks, Chris

  • Hi,

Firstly I would like to say that this 12 bit mode for LVDS feature is not been implemented, this is a feature which may or may not be released in future. For rest of the SSI mode, there are certain number of sample rate which is allowed and the sample rate that is not allowed are called dead zone. For known the sample rate that can be implemented can be found in the  dead zone table under the chapter "ARBITRARY SAMPLE RATE". The easiest way for knowing which sample rate is applicable can be seen in TES indicator as shown below.

Coming to the next question, the reason for choosing LSB is if the signal doesn't occupy more than 12 bits then taking the 12 MSB is irrelevant since you don't have information hence in that case we go with LSB.

    Regards
