ADRV9002 Receiver gain

Question

Hi, 
 In ADRV9002 datasheet and software development guide, it is mentioned that the analog attenuator before mixer in receiver path can be programmed from 0 to 36 dB attenuation. The LPF followed by mixer would provide 20 dB of gain. So, in my understanding the receiver path should give -16dB (-36+20 at maximum attenuation) to 20 dB (0+20 at minimum attenuation) gain. 
 But the s-parameters provided in ADRV9002 design file is giving -58 to -15dB gain. It is also mentioned it is at minimum attenuation .The simulated s-parameters is attached for your reference. 
 Kindly elaborate how it is possible?

Hi, 
 Correct the gain in the system is as you outlined above with a max attenuation giving you -16dB and a minimum attenuation giving you 20dB gain. The s-parameters however are different, they are a measure of the rf impedance on the Rx input. They are not the measure of the signal itself.  You can interpret this graph as showing the RF impedance the signal will see as its going into the Rx port.
