AD9375 TX1 and TX2 impedance matching Network in band 300 to 1000Mhz

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD9375

Hi,

we are planing to use the AD9375 in the frequency band of 300 to 1000Mhz. From the UG-992 p.252 , we have to use the following components for the following circuit (See images below).

So, we have to use the B0322J5050AHF. From the component, it seems that L305 must be added, however, the conversation at this link tells that the L305 is DNI:

https://ez.analog.com/rf/wide-band-rf-transceivers/design-support-ad9371/f/q-a/575671/b0322j5050ahf-for-ad9371-s-tx-port

I am a little confuse by that answer, so i just want to validate if i have to put L305 between Pin 2 and Pin 3, but not to pin 4?

Thank you very much and have a nive day!

  • If you are using ADRV9371-N/PCBZ matched for 1.8GHz – 2.6GHz , L305 is DNI and if you are using ADRV9371-W/PCBZ matched for 300MHz – 6GHz then we recommend to have a different matching network, please see attached screenshot

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The device we will be using is the AD9375 and we are using the EVM of the AD9375 as a reference. We are using the ADRV9371-N/PCBZ and want to match it for 300-1000Mhz, not 1.8Ghz - 2.6Ghz. So we are using the user guide to change value of the passive components to match the frequency 300-1000Mhz (See original post). The UG says to populate L305 for the band 300-1000Mhz with the circuit of the EVM, but the  Anaren B0322J5050AHF datasheet Pin 2 is stated as GND. Is that an error or do we really have to connect it? All the screenshot of the original post are from the UG of the AD9375.

Thanks again and have a nice day!

  • Looks like B0322J5050AHF does not have a DC bias in those cases you will need to add RF chokes to Tx .Can you please refer to "Transmitter Bias Design Considerations" section from UG-page 268 for more details

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but this doesn't answer the main question. The original question is the following :

The UG says to populate L305 for the band 300-1000Mhz with the circuit of the EVM, but the  Anaren B0322J5050AHF datasheet Pin 2 is stated as GND. Is that an error or do we really have to connect it?

From your answer we need to do a wire wound choke, however the EVM with the B0322J5050AHF seems to use the pin 2 as the centertap. Is is an error from the EVM or you really want to do a centertap connection? Also, only the pin 3 seems to be connected to the Bias, is it normal?

Thanks again and have a nice day!

  • is an error from the EVM or you really want to do a centertap connection?

No there is no error . From the ADI EVB schematic, L305 connects one side of the BAL port to the GND and Anaren part pin2 is an internal ground .

you really want to do a centertap connection?

No this is not a center tapped connection.

pin 3 seems to be connected to the Bias, is it normal?

    Yes.

You can implement both in your design- Populate the L305(39nH)  and also use Pin2 to Ground .
