Using the HMC1048A as an upconverter is not recommended. While it supports signals from DC to 4 GHz, its impedance matching and linearity are not optimized for transmitting signals from the IF port, as required in upconversion. This may lead to reduced conversion efficiency and potential signal distortion. Additionally, the internal mixer topology may not deliver the same isolation or linearity when operated in reverse.
