Many RF detectors have a Controller Mode that senses the output power of a variable gain amplifier (VGA) and compares it to a setpoint. If the voltage sensed by the detector is not equal to the setpoint, the Vout voltage of the detector, connected to the gain control input of the VGA, ramps up or down, changing the gain of the VGA until the control loop balances. These devices which operate in Controller Mode, contain an integrator circuit. In open loop mode the integrator output will ramp up or down until it clamps low or high.
Specific Models to consider:
- AD8315: This detector can provide an integrated output voltage (VAPC). If the polarity of the AD8315's VAPC pin is not suitable, consider using the AD8314, which offers outputs that go in opposite directions.
- Higher Frequency Devices: For higher frequency requirements, consider models such as AD8318 and AD8317.
