Original Question: EV-RADAR-MMIC2 - Evaluation software not running ? - Fix included ! by NicolasRobbe
Hello,
For the sake of the project I'm working on, I have been struggling to get the EV-RADAR-MMIC software (version 0.10.4, which is as of today the version you can download from the EV-RADAR-MMIC2 product page) running. As stated in several other EZ forum posts, you do need to be running a Windows version no greater than 10 (see EV-RADAR-MMIC2 Windows 11 not working), have .NET Framework 3.5 installed and selected (see answers of EV-RADAR-MMIC2 evaluation board)...
However for users that work in a part of the world where "ten and a half" is written as "10,5" and not "10.5", there is an extra step to get the software to work, which is not stated in the UG-866 User Guide (as of Rev. B) : the software will not run (nor will it generate any kind of error message but that's another matter) unless you configure your Windows decimal point to be "." (period) instead of "," (comma).
This can be done by following these instructions :
- Open Control Panel
- Click "Region"
- Either change the "Format" field from whatever your language is to "English (United States)" OR click "More settings" and finally change your decimal point from "," to "."
- Don't forget to hit "Apply" to save this change before closing the Control Panel window.
The second option is the one I would recommend, if you do not want to modify your entire number formatting style.
I am aware of the difficulties that come with pushing updates for long-released apps, however I would like to take this opportunity to humbly ask Analog to please adress this problem, or at least mention this in user guides so that future users don't have to waste time figuring out where this kind of issues comes from. Please slide in a quick note in future revisions !
More context can be found on this post from 2018 : RE: ADF4155 Eval software complaint... , and I am pleased to say that I have not experienced such issues with software based on the ACE platform.
Best of luck to future users who get delayed due to this issue, hoping that some of them will stumble on this post.
