LTC5587 RMS power detector

Hi,

   I'm now evaluating LTC5587 RMS power detector at lab. I've observed that ADC value will always follow the previous one whenever there is change of RF input power. I can confirm that integrated power detector is working fine as analog voltage output is varying once I adjust RF input power.

   In other words, I need to apply twice of logic low to CONV pin and then refer to second ADC value which is valid as respect to change of RF input power. The first ADC value is invalid as it refer to previous RF input power.

  Just wonder if anyone observe similar behavior and if yes, please kindly advise the root cause and respective solution (if any).

    hi,

    it's correct that the data acquired is when CONV goes from hi to lo on the previous cycle.  this is explained in the datasheet, figure 14, page 17 timing diagram.  it's works this way by design. you would need to synchronize the CONV to when you like to capture the signal.
