ADL5519 envelope bandwidth

I'm comparing two parts, the AD8302 and the ADL5519.  The AD8302 datasheet discusses the envelope bandwidth quite a bit, and specifies it at 30MHz, while the ADL5519 only has a spec of 10MHz.  Is there a reason the ADL5519 has a lower envelope bandwidth than the AD8302.  Is there any way to increase this?  Does ADI have any similar parts with a higher envelope bandwidth?

  • For the most part, the envelope bandwidth of a log detector cannot be increased using external means (easy to slow down via parasitic loading but hard to speed up).

    Take a look at the AD8317/8/9 family of log detectors. These have output bandwidths in the 50 MHz range.  The new ADL5511 may also be of interest. This device is a linear  envelope detector. So while a log amp with a fast output gives you log(env(Vin)),  ADL5511 gives you env(Vin). The ADL5511 has an envelope bandwidth of around 100 MHz.
