HMC980 and HMC637 Bias İssue

Datasheet of the HMC980lp4e show example circuit for biasing of the amplifier and I want to use HMC980 to bias hmc 637 amplifier. According to example circuits drain voltage ports which is ports 18 and 19 directly connect to biasing circuit of the amplifier .My question is sholu I put series resistor and shunt capacitor between drain port of the HMC980 and biasing circuit of HMC637. If I should use what is the recommended values of resistor and capacitor

Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

We do not have models for AWR. We have ADIsimRF and KS Genesys models for ~100 RF amplifiers.

We do not have any models for HMC980LP4E. We have an application note on bias controllers though, AN-1363. It has additional information on these parts, with some example circuits.

Bias controllers will provide the necessary power up and down sequencing for externally biased amplifiers. They have internal negative voltage generator for the Vgg of the DUT. They will adjust Vgate continuously for target Idd value. And some other additional features mentioned on the app note.
