    Tcal is the time required for the internal VCO Auto-calibration state machine to select the best VCO core and VCO sub-band (capacitor setting) for the programmed frequency.  There are 4 separate VCO cores inside the HMC832 to cover the 1.5 to 3GHz frequency range.  VCO Auto-calibration initiates when Reg04h (when in Fractional mode) or Reg03h (when in Integer mode) is programmed.
    
 
    Upon completion of VCO Auto-calibration, control of Vt (VCO's tuning port) is relinquished to the PLL's CP and normal PLL settling behavior occurs.
