HMC241

Question

Hello, 
 The HMC241ALP3E data sheet indicates that the switch is DC to 4 GHz, but in the pin description table it states that blocking caps are required. Why are blocking caps requred and what would happen if I DC coupled to my RF circuit? Thanks.

 The RF ports of the HMC241ALP3E are connected to the drain/source of the FETs and they are dc coupled with approximately close to the Vdd applied, +5Vdc. If the dc voltage applied at the ports is not Vdd=5V, the DC blocking capacitors need to be used otherwise the part's e lectrical performances and as well as reliability can be affected.
