HMC631 - Questions on Routing to 64 Devices

  1. The HMC631 datasheet has graphs of input return loss in dB, but no phase information. Does ADI have the S parameters (at least S11) for this part available?  Does it change substantially as a function of I and Q values? Would like to feed a fairly large array of these parts, and it would be nice to be able to simulate this to compare architectures.  Does ADI have any recommendations on routing these as a series splitter or similar?  Would liek to drive 64 devices. We would like to try and  route the RF signal to the HMC631 devices as a series splitter, routing past each component.  We are trying to figure out what, if any, matching would be required to make this feasible.  For that it would probably be sufficient to get the S-parameters for the eval board with the balun that includes.
  2. On that note, does ADI have a recommended non-balun solution for driving the differential RF inputs from a single-ended microstrip feed?  The example circuit has an Anaren part, but it would be nice to not have dozens of those if possible.

  • Hi,

We are currently evaluating the HMC631 HBT Vector Modulator (VM) performance for a full duplex transceiver using the Evaluation board sent by Hittite/Analog devices.

The VM's VNA measurements are as expected with respect to gain and phase changes corresponding to changes in Vi and Vq.

We are further interested in getting the ADS simulation model for the VM before integrating it on-board.

Please share the ADS simulation model and if possible relevant application papers on the VM.

    Thanks
