For mixers, like the HMC526, can LO leakage be improved by adjusting independent DC offsets into the IQ pins?

I'm interested in software control of the IQ inputs to mixers such as the HMC526, HMC520 and HMC1056.

Are the IQ inputs of these devices internally biased? Can DC bias voltage on the IQ pins be injected on these pins and adjusted (independently of course) so that the LO leakage can be modified? Thanks, Jerry

  • Hi,

We haven't tested these parts by changing the DC bias on the IF1 and IF2 pins, but you should be able to do so if you wish to increase the LO rejection.

Just as an FYI the HMC520 is obsolete now and HMC526 is at last time buy status. We do not recommend these parts for new designs. If you could give more details of your application we can suggest suitable alternatives.

    Thanks,
