ADN2530 - lower limit data rate?

I'm working with the EVAL-ADN2530 board. When I give it a signal at a lower data rate my (<1 kHz) laser doesn't actuate from 0 to 100%, it's modulation is more like 90% to 100%, which doesn't give me the full range of the signal. I've noticed that as I increase the data rate my received signal becomes full on and full off during modulation. The data sheet gives an upper limit but I was wondering if there's a lower limit that I should avoid.

  • Dear Cpollock,

ADN2530 is a high data rate VCSEL laser diode driver. It supports upto 11.3Gbps.

ADN2530 also supports, in our lab, the lowest capable rate of a PRBS generator : 50Mbps.

What is the modulation signal rate you are interested in? 1KHz?

I don't think we had measured that low yet.

  • Great thank you! I'm interested in the 50 to 200 Mbps range so it sounds

like this will still work for me. The 1 kHz was just for troubleshooting. I

just wanted to make sure I knew which speeds should work so I'm not trying

to troubleshoot in a range that the boards not designed for.
