Biasing Sequence for GaAs HMC952ALP5GE

Hi,

Seems like there is a time frame where the the drain have positive voltage when the negative voltage source is off. You are right this is violating the AMR ratings for these kind of externally biased amplifiers.

You can use HMC980LP4E bias controller to bias HMC952ALP5GE, which will provide the required sequencing, plus the internal negative voltage generator for Vgate.

Thank you for your response, I am using 8 of the HMC952ALP5GE amplifiers and it would be very expensive to buy 8 biasing controllers (one for each amplifier). is there is a way to just use one controller to bias all of them?

Hi Mohammad,

In theory you can use one controller for multiple DUTs, but this will kill the purpose of using bias controller cause the drain current distribution between DUTs will not be the same. Hence we do not recommend using one controller for multiple DUTs.
