admv8818 - ACE program crashing

Thread Summary

The user experienced issues with the ADMV8818 evaluation board and EVAL-SDP-CS1Z controller board on Windows 11, where the program crashes when attempting to activate the board icon. The problem was resolved by disabling security measures set up by the IT department, allowing the software to function correctly. The software works fine on Windows 10 and was tested on both Windows 10 and 11 by the support engineer.

Hi. Top image is my laptop screenshot. Bottom image is user guide

I use the EVAL-SDP-CS1Z controller board as per user guide

1) the ADMV8818 icon that appears from my laptop is different from that of user guide

2) When I activate the * in my laptop icon, the controller card LED flashes which I assume it tests the comms link.

3) When I double click my icon as per user guide pg5, the entire program crashes/closes by itself

4) Rebooting several times also yields the same result as above.

5) I can never get to the screen control panel (bottom image).

Please assist to help me solve this issue as it means I cannot test out the ADMV8818 evaluation board. Thank you

  • I don't have an ADMV8818 board on hand so I can't test this on the bench right not. But I'll try to get a board over the next few days. In the meantime, can you try the following.

    1. Disconnect the ADMV8818 and SDP card from the computer and try to run ACE. With no board connected, you can still open ACE and see the main control GUI for ADMV8818. If you cannot get this far even with the board not connected, then the problem is probably somewhere in the software.

    2. Reinstalling ACE is worth a try but before you do that, can I suggest that you try to install ACE and attempt to control the board from a different computer.
