I have performed an initial simulation using the HMC8410 S2P file. At 8 GHz, I observed an S11 = -7.15 dB, S22 = - 10.2 dB and S21 = 15.78 dB. Since this device is internally matched to 50Ω, would implementing an external matching network significantly improve the Return Loss and Noise Figure for a narrower band ( e.g 1-8Ghz) , or is the performance already optimized close to the device's physical limits? Specifically, I want to know if 'tuning for Noise' at the input would provide a meaningful NF reduction compared to the standard 50Ω termination.
