Hi All!
I am looking at the ADF5355 datasheet figures 19/21 to get an idea of the output power levels from the device at my target frequency of 5.8 GHz. I see that the output power from RFoutA at 5.8 GHz is around 0dBm for losses de-embedded but with board losses this reduces to around -3dBm. I also see that in register 6 the output power level can be chosen. I was wondering
- Is figure 21 referring to the evaluation boards losses and assuming my routing matches around -3dBm is the max that I can expect from the output?
- From Figure 19 and register 6, I just want to confirm that the max RFoutA at 5.8 GHz will be -1dBM but I will be able to adjust down to -4dBM (from Figure 21 I will expect that my actual with board losses will be -3dBM and -7dBM correspondingly)
- I am looking at cascading RF amplifiers to boost the output power after the ADF5355 stage to around 30dBm. I am looking at a double stage amplifier setup where the first one will be a VGA to give more control over the output power while the second RF amplifier will just allow my gain to reach 30dBm. Has anyone ever done something like this before and has any recommendation?
Thank you!
