what should be the track impedance maintained on PCB to the pins INHI and INLO and LMHI and LMLO of  AD8306 for 60MHz IF signal

  • Let's start with the input. It depends on how you drive the part. If you plan to drive the input single ended with a 52.3 ohm shunt resistor to ground across the input pins and with INLO ac-coupled to ground, then the trace to INHI should be 50 ohms with the ac-coupling caps and termination resistor as close as possible to the part. If you plan to drive the part differentially, then then each trace should have a characteristic impedance that is equal to half the value of the differential input impedance (50 ohms if you use the 52.3 ohm shunt resistor).

  • Thank u enash.

what about the impedance of LMHI and LMLO?.

can i follow the schematics in the datasheet for single ended input?

  • LMHI and LMLO are outputs. I'm not sure what you mean by "can i follow the schematics in the datasheet for single ended input?". The limiter outputs are high impedance current sinks which you normally connect to the supply voltage using pull-up resistors, typically, two 50 ohm resistors. Because the impedance looking into LMHI and LMLO is high, the net output impedance of the two outputs will be 50 ohms each. So if you do this, the characteristic impedance of your two traces should be 50 ohms. If you want a single ended output, you could put a 2-to-1 balun after the two resistors. Then coming out of the balun (single-ended), you use a 50 ohm trace.

Let me know if this answers your question.
