ADF4368

Thread Summary

The user replaced the ADF4377 chip with the ADF4368 on the ADF4377 evaluation board, causing the ACE software to fail detecting the daughter board. The final answer suggests manually assigning a controller in the ACE software to bypass EEPROM read, but the user encountered an issue with the 'No Daughter Board Detected' option not appearing. The ADF4368 requires pull-up inductors on its RFOUT pins, which are not present on the ADF4377 board, and reducing the output power can help use it without these inductors.

I have replaced the ADF4377 chip on the ADF4377 evaluation board with the clock chip ADF4368. However, the ACE software cannot control the evaluation board and fails to detect the daughter board. Does Analog Devices have a solution to flash the initial EEPROM information on the  evaluation board so that it can be recognized as a suitable daughter board? Therefore, I hope to obtain the EEPROM file from the EEPROM recovery tool in the ACE software. Alternatively, please provide the relevant device information stored in the EEPROM of the ADF4368 evaluation board::

  • Hi,

The directions I provided are valid for an empty EEPROM. If the EEPROM contents refer to another board, you need to select the referred board.

For example, in your case, you will open the ADF4368 Plugin from the Explore without the hardware list. After opening, in the system tab, you need to select ADF4377 Board from the dropdown menu.

    Thanks,

    Emrecan

  • There are currently several issues, and I hope you can help with a further explanation.

    1.  According to the method you provided earlier, when clicking the small USB icon on the controller tab, there is no option "Daughterboard not detected" in the drop-down menu.

    2. During the previous debugging, an empty ".dat" file was already flashed into the EEPROM. Now, when switching back to the ADF4377 chip, the evaluation board still cannot be controlled using the ACE software. With the second method you provided, after opening the "System" tab and selecting "ADF4377 Development Board" from the drop-down menu, this method also no longer works.

    3.  Since the EEPROM has been flashed with an empty ".dat" file, the original ADF4377 can no longer be controlled either. Therefore, I hope to obtain the original ".dat" file from the EEPROM of the ADF4377 evaluation board.

Your prompt reply is highly appreciated.
