ADMV1013 LO spurs optimization

Thread Summary

The user is experiencing in-band spurs (3*LO, 4*LO, 5*LO) with the ADMV1013 and seeks to suppress them. The final answer indicates that reducing LO power can lower spurs but increases output noise, and reducing RF input power results in a dB-for-dB spur reduction with no dBc gain. No specific configuration options are available for spur reduction.

Hello,

I am using ADMV1013 and following spurs are falling in-band as per my freq plan and I want to suppress them as much as possible. Could you please provide best algorithm to adjust register settings for co-optimising these spurs:

  • 3*LO
  • 4*LO
  • 5*LO

Thanks,

Ali

  • Hi Ali,

There is no configuration option for reducing the spurs. When the LO is applied to the part, it is amplified which increases its harmonic content. Backing off the LO power will at some point cause the harmonic spurs to reduce but with that comes higher output noise. You can also reduce the RF input power to the part but any spur reduction that results from this will be dB-for-dB with the input power, so no dBc gain.
