ADF4159 Works with the ADF5901 to Achieve Dual-Path Antenna Transmission (24GHz Traffic Radar, 2Tx, 8Rx using two ADF5904)

Thread Summary

The user inquired about configuring the ADF4159 to supply frequency for the two channels of the ADF5901, asking if both channels should transmit simultaneously or alternately with a phase difference. The final answer states that only one ADF5901 output can be used at a time, and the two channels can be switched for MIMO applications. The ADF5902 is suggested as a more integrated option, but it does not support FSK/PSK modulations or parabolic ramps.

Hi,

How should I set the ADF4159 to supply the frequency for the two channels of the ADF5901? Should both channels transmit simultaneously, or should the two channels transmit alternately with a phase difference?

Additionally, I noticed there is a more integrated ADF5902. Would you recommend using the ADF5902 instead of the ADF4159 + ADF5901 for a 24 GHz radar with dual-channel?

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Arnold,

Only one output of the ADF5901 can be used at the same time. two transmit channels can be switched in a different time slot for MIMO applications.

You can think that ADF5902 is a combination of ADF4159 and ADF5901. However, FSK/PSK modulations and parabolic ramps are not available in ADF5902.

    Thanks,
