adf4159

Category: Software
Product Number: ADF4159

hello,

i am using adf4159 for generating ramp and CW signal at 5600 MHz and  my PFD is 100 MHz but i am not able to see the MUX output status like VDD or GND. IS this because of software or hardware issue. i had separately checked VCO & Crystal oscillator both are working my schematic is matching with EVAL board . and i am using OP184 loop filter i had used ADI simPLL Software to generate the RAMP and used the values suggested there.

i checked physical lines data is going to chip in msb first format and i not getting time out on spi either, i have use TXS0108E level shifter rather than potential divider for level shifting. Please help.

  • Hi Pihu,

If Muxout is not responding to the SPI command, it is most probably related to SPI communication.

What is the voltage level on each supply pin of the ADF4159?

Can you send oscilloscope measurements of the SPI lines? Can you send your register write sequence for MUXOUT settings?

You said you have used a level shifter between the controller and ADF4159, can you place a series 30ohm resistor along the CLK and SDATA pins between the level shifter and ADF4159?

    Thanks,
    Emrecan

  • I have bipass the level shifter chip and place potential divider, I am able program adf4159 but for frequency value but only for integer my frac part never work it gives me either max output of my vco Or default of my vco but if I increase my r counter which reduce my pfd which inter convert frac part to integer I am able lock my pll with still not able use fraction value

  • Programming for 5650mhz

    I have seted r0 0x001c4000,

    r1 0x00000001

    r2 0x0700800a

    r3 0x01030083

    r4 0x00180104, 0x00180144

    r5 0x00000005, 0x00800005

    r6 0x00000006, 0x00800006

    r7 0x00000007

But i am getting frequency as output 5700 mhz
