How to configure LT5537 circuit parameters

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT5537

Dears,

We are now using RF/IF Log Detector LT5537, and hope to get some help:
1. Our signal frequency range is 70MHz±1M, how to configure the log detector circuit parameters to get the best performance;
2. At present, our schematic as below, according to the configuration of 200MHz in the specification, please help confirm how to optimize the circuit/parameters to achieve the best dynamic range.

  • Hi,

    LT5537 can be used at 70MHz as it falls in it's typical detection range. Minimum Vcc of 2.8V is required for 90dB dynamic range. But If you're not able to get this range, increase Vcc a bit would help. Other way is to change output-to-ground resistor to a smaller value. DS is having a section on optimizing dynamic range with a circuit, which would be more helpful.

    As far as 200 MHz operation is considered, the DS is having performance plots at 200MHz and are showing the best performance at those frequency. Performance could significantly change at different operating conditions. But optimizing techniques should still hold good at 200MHz.

    Hope this is helpful.
