HMC963: IP2 and second harmonic detais

For starters I believe I can share some IP2 data up to ~20GHz. I could probably calculate the expected HD2/3 numbers on our side from our IP2/IP3 results during validation if you think this would be helpful.

I cant say that its unreasonably high definitively yet. I'm plotting the IP2/3 now. Is 10GHz the main focus of this application? Or is the customer using the part over a range?

this application covers from 10 GHz to 26 GHz.

Hi Matteo,

We have a full dataset for IP3. However, we have limited IP2 data due to equipment limitations at the time. We have room temp IP2 up to 19.5GHz (much less data at -40C and 85C). Data is attached.

thanks for the data.

However, the second harmonic level is high (see the second image of the first message).

 I'll try to summarize:

• the fundamental power is about -22 dBm at the input of the amplifier;
• the second harmonic power is about -87 dBm at the input oh the amplifier;
• the fundamental power is about 0 dBm at the output of the amplifier (correct because the gain is 22 dB);
• the second harmonic power is about -29 dBm at the output oh the amplifier. 

Why this? The amplifier works in linear region (10 dB below the OP1dB of 10 dBm), so the input power of - 22 dBm is not too high. Do you agree?

I've calculated and attached an estimated HD2 chart of the HMC963. It is much lower than your results. Is this a measurement of the customers system or just our board?

Hi Matteo,

I used an H2 calculator developed by our engineers that takes our data taken during validation and calculates the expected 2nd harmonic curves.
