  • Thank you for the response. I have one more query:

I want to use ADCLK946 after HMC438. I want to drive ADCLK946 in differential mode. Is the told design compatible?

    2) What is the type of signal that is coming out of HMC438? Is it LVDS, LVPECEL or CMOS?

    3) What is the differential impedance of HMC438 output? (OUT and OUTBar together). Is it 100 ohm differential?

  • 1. Yes there should not be any issue and they should be compatible.

    2. I'll need to confirm and get back to you.

    3. 100 Differential or 50 Ohm single ended

  • Hi Thank you,

Does HMC438 works on sine wave input?

  • Also how should i simulate and check the combination of HMC438 and ADCLK? are there any specialized tools available? Because i need to see the phase noise of the ADCLK output. How should i validate it?

    2) The outpower level mentioned in HMC438 data sheet is typical -1dBm. Does that mean the loss will be 1dB or no matter what is the power level of input signal, the output will be -1dBm?

The same doubt for HMC433 aswell

  • Hi,

Yes, HMC438 works on sine wave input.

As for the simulator, we do not have an available tool to check the phase noise of the combination of HMC438 and ADCLK. This combination needs to be setup to validate phase noise.

Lastly, the -1dBm is the typical output power of HMC438 no matter what the power level of the input signal is supplied. Take note that there is a specified maximum input power for each input frequency range. The same goes for HMC433.

    Best regards,
