ADRF5720: The behavior of input/output signal in an unbiased condition.

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADRF5720

Hello,

I have a question about ADRF5720 powered off. (Unbiased)
In the Absolute Maximum Ratings, the input level to ATTIN is limited to lower than 21dBm.
The customer asks us about this condition.
His questions are as follows.

Q1. Will any signal level be output from ATTOUT?  If so, how much of the attenuation?

Q2. Does no level output from ATTOUT?

Best regards,

  • Hello y_suzuki

Thanks a lot for the question. We are expecting some attenuated signal from the ATTOUT pin when an RF signal applied from ATTIN at unbiased condition. We need to perform a measurement for you but we need some more information:

Do customer have a certain RF signal level applied? Also, will there be only RF signal fed from the ATTIN pin? As described in the data sheet unbiased power handling is different from the ATTOUT pin.

    Thanks

  • Hello Gokhan,

I got more information from our customer.

    > During operation, a maximum signal level of about +5 dBm is input.
    > For a short period of time, this may continue to be present after the power is turned off, e.g., if the timing to turn off the input is delayed when the power is turned off.
    > For example, when a CW of about +5 dBm is applied with the power off, it is sufficient to know whether +5 dBm appears on the output side or how much the level drops.

Could you explain to me what the behavior will be?

    Best regards,

    y_suzuki

  • Hi y_suzuki

I was able to perform a simple measurement and without any DC applied and +5dBm from the ATTIN port, there is around 9 dB loss from input to output near lower cutoff end and 18 dB loss near 40 GHz. Do customer is interested at certain frequency?

    Thanks
