HMC516LC5_Gain Vs Temperature

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: HMC516LC5

Dear team,

According to the datasheet, this part is expressed as having lower gain at low temperature(-40˚C).

Is this correct? Could  I know why?

In general, it is known that the Gain performance increase at low temperature.

Thank you.

Best & Regards,

Josh

  • Hi Josh,

You're right that you would generally expect gain to be higher at lower temperatures. In this case, there is likely some kind of internal temperature compensation circuit that is causing the fold around +25C that we're seeing here. I took a look at both the packaged and die version of the part to verify that this characteristic is represented in both parts, so I feel fairly confident this is the case here.
