I would recommend downloading the HMC701 EVB GUI, Hittite PLL VCO Eval Software V3280. Then in Standalone PLL, select HMC701 and hit "No" when asked to abort application. This will allow you to open up the GUI controls when not connected to a board. From the interface panel you can select "Load Reg File" and the software will give you an example list of writes that you could use to lock to a int channel or frac channel

Thank you for the reply. I have been able to send the registers configurations as you recommended, and it works.However, I intend to replace the arduino board with my own micro-controller. I want to be clarify if the arduino board is only sending the register configure through spi . Thank you.
