I have a HMC767 eval kit with the USB interface board (full kit) and am using the internal oscillator (50MHz). I connected the boards to the computer and power supplies, powered on the supplies, and then opened the software. I load either the integer or fractional register files, but the Check Lock box always shows "Lost Communication" and never changes. Reading register 0 always returns FFFFFF (light grey). The 5.5V input is drawing 0.324 Amps. I have jumpers 1, 2, and 3 connected on the eval board. There are some jumpers on the USB interface, but I haven't changed their positions from what they were out of the box.
I have another HMC767 eval board on hand, so I checked that as well with the USB interface board. Same result. I do not believe I have two bad eval boards, but am at a loss as to what to do next.
1) Are there specific jumper settings for the 121726-2 USB interface board that I need to set?
2) Should Jumpers J1, J2, and J3 be connected on the eval board?
3) Is there anything else I should be doing to ensure communication with the board?
