ADF5902: Peak Transmit Power


We are currently developing a product with the ADF5902 in 24GHz ISM band and want to verify the peak transmit power based on the Datasheet/our measurements. From what we measured on our spectrum analyzer we got a max power of 8.5dBm while the datasheet states typical power is 8dBm. On the datasheet it states the Max transmit power is 12dBm about 4dBm difference from the max programmable power, When is this max transmit power achieved? We want to make sure we meet FCC requirements in the Band.

    The max power spec comes from our char/test data and the part should never exceed these over temp, supply, and /part variation. Figure 6 in the datasheet shows that output power can reach just under 11dBm at cold temp/high supply. The difference between 11dB and the max spec of 12dBm is part-part variation which test would cover to ensure no part would exceed 12dBm. In other words, the device is guaranteed to operate within the min/max specs given
