    The maximum rating of the HMC836 state that voltage shall be VDDCP VPPCP,VCC1 -0.3V to 5.8V. The specification is given at 5V +/- 4%. Do you have any measurements when the voltage drops to 4.0V ? Could you elaborate on what performance parameters that will degrade ?
