HMC606 Gain Flatness Over Temp

I am characterizing some of the HMC606's I have on hand, and monitoring their gain over temp.

From approx. 24*c to 70*c, I am seeing approx 3dB of gain drop... Using the packaged variant, testing at x-band.

Is there a proper way I can model this?

Is there any design suggestions to obtain the 1dB I was seeing mentioned in the datasheet?

Thanks!

  • Hi Zsaigh,

Are you using the HMC606 evaluation board for your measurements?  If not could you share your board layout?

Not sure where the gain drop is coming from. is. We do have a Sys-parameter model for the HMC606LC5 (25C only). The Sys-parameter models work with Keysight Genesys and SystemVue.

    https://tools.analog.com/en/toolbox/LibraryVersion

Data sheet shows about a 1dB gain drop at 85C in the 16GHz - 17 GHz frequency range.

  • Hi Jim,

I am not using a eval board at the moment.  If I can find one, I will try to reproduce results on it.

In the meantime, is there a way to model the effect of temp on gain, in ADS, Genesys, Etc.... or is the datasheet the best I have to work with?

Is there any design considerations that could of been overlooked, that could cause such a issue?

    Thanks again!
