SysParameters

Hi,

I noticed that the IP2 parameter is usually entered as 20dB above P1dB.  Is there any way to get more accurate IP2 data?

I am specifically wanting to know which part has better IP2 performance, HMC636 or HMC374.  Both have P1dB = 22dBm.

Regards,

Chris

  • Hi Chris,

I will look and see  if we have  IP2 data for these parts and get back t o you.

  • Hi Chris,

I did check the for theIP2 data for the HMC636  & HMC734. It appears that the data was not measured. The amp2 model was chose because GaAs devices are pretty consistent in the P1dB /IP2 offset.

  • Hi Jim,

Thanks for checking it out.  I'll try to get the measurement and post here.

  • Hi Jim,

I am attempting to move a SysParameter model for Genesys into ADS as described in Aemon Nash's presentation seen here:

    https://ez.analog.com/webcast-qa/2020-webcasts/5-21-2020-non-linear-simulation-of-rf-amplifiers-in-keysight-genesys-systemvue-ads-and-awr-vss/

Slide 20 implies a conversion from CSV to MDF but there are no details.  I tried to convert myself using the ADS documentation but the file throws an error.  My attempt to create the file is attached. (I had to change the file suffix to TXT to upload)

    Can you help?

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris,

I will upload a file so you can get the correct structure of the mdf file.

  • Thanks Jim, I'll try this out and let you know how it goes.

  • Hi Jim,

The model for HMC1132 looks good and the data looks good when I run in a circuit.

I have created an equivalent model for the ADL5611.  The ADL5611 does not correlate when I run it.  It looks like the model is extrapolating the last point in the ADL5611.mdf file at 6GHz or NF and P1dB.  Which I suppose is due to harmonic content above 6GHz.  I'm not sure exactly how to fix this.

Do you have any time to take a look at the ADS simulation file?

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi RFman@arrow,

I can look at the file. I do know there are some instances where the simulation gets un happy in ADS. Usually The P1dB to Psat delta being greater than a certain amount. If the file looks ok, I'd suggest contacting Keysight ADS tech support.

  • Hi Jim,

So it was operator error on my part.  The .mdf file freq is in Hz and I failed to change from MHz to Hz.  This is why it was trying to interpolate to the last line at 6000Hz.

Thanks so much for your help and willingness to jump in.

    Best regards,

    Chris
