HMC1065LP4E 90° hybrid connection side

Hi,

I'm working on a Ka Band downconverter in the range 27-30GHz based on HMC1065LP4E,

with low side LO injection in the range 11.65-13.15 GHz. This means IF = 3.7 GHz.

I'm a bit confused with the external hybrid to get the correct signal at 3.7 GHz and reject the image.

Datasheet shows a "typical application circuit", but there's no information about USB or LSB o 0/90° pins.

In my case the hybrid coupler will be Anaren X4C35J1-03G (datasheet here: https://cdn.anaren.com/product-documents/Xinger/90DegreeHybridCouplers/X4C35J1-03G/X4C35J1-03G_Datasheet(Rev_D).pdf ) or Minicircuits QCS-592 ( https://www.minicircuits.com/pdfs/QCS-592+.pdf ).

Any help for connecton of these hybrids?

  • Hi Federico,

    To configure for USB (Low Side LO, RF> 2*LO) connect the IF1 port to the 90 degree port of the hybrid and the IF2 port to the 0 degree port of the hybrid. The output is from the sum port of the hybrid.

    For LSB (High Side LO, RF<2*LO) connect the IF2 port to the 90 degree port of the hybrid and the IF1 port to the 0 degree port of the hybrid. The output is from the sum port of the hybrid.
