Hello, I need to design a detector. The input signal is a broadband signal of 1-8GHz. I need to detect the total signal power in this band. What type of detector chip should I choose? Is the RMS detector more suitable? ? Thank you.
Do you have more specific requirements like accuracy across input power range and temperature, response time, frequency flatness, power consumption, accuracy across complex waveforms or multiple carriers, etc.?
This is a wideband signal with a power input power of -50dBm to -40dBm over the entire 1-8GHz range and relatively flat. There are no special requirements for parameters such as response time and power consumption.
Sorry about delayed answer. Yes, HMC611 looks ok also. For 8 GHz, HMC611 is beginning to near the sensitivity limit at -50dBm. See datasheet graph on page 4. Suitability depends on the accuracy requirements of your application.
