In Figure 50 of the ADMV1014 datasheets , Gain is given at IF = 1 GHz , fRF = 28 GHz and it is roughly 18 dB to 19 dB. But In Figure of 17 of ADMV1014-EVALZ sheet , Gain is given at IF =1 GHz , fRF = 28 GHz and it is 31.31 dB . Which one is correct ?
Thank you for your question. Yes there is a typo in the userguide. The input power is probably -10dBm not -25dBm.
Thanks for the response . I think , the input power must be -15 dBm not -10dBm (or -25 dBm).
Its -10dBm for the picture in the userguide as the board trace losses are not deembedded.
1) Since the IP1 dB for the ADMV1014 varies between -9 dBm to -14 dBm as given is datasheet. So it will be impractical to measure the gain near or above the IP1dB.
2) In datasheet figure 50, de-embedded gain at IF = 1 GHz is approximately 17 dB - 18 dB. So adding 2.5 dB to 3 dB gain from 90 degree hybrid at the output. It will be around 20 dB to 21 dB.
Now you subtract some trace/connector losses around 1 dB . Gain shall be approximately 19 dB to 20 dB.
If we consider at the input -15 dBm , gain will be around 21 dB .
1) Correct, the userguide results is not shown for RF performance purposes but as a quick check to see if the board is working as expected.
2) The datasheet has all losses deembedded including the hybrid and rf trace losses.
At last , Shall be consider input -15 dBm or -10 dBm for typo error.
