For my application it would be advantageous to swap the RF and LO ports. On some mixer architectures this is possible without serious degradation of performance. What can I expect with the HMC553ALC3B?

Hi,
Double balanced mixer is not a symmetric architecture. With LO and RF swapped, the LO to IF isolation, which used to be RF to isolation, is degraded by around 8dB. The linearity will be worse as a result of worse isolation.
