DDS+PLL Synthesizer


I would like to make a synthesizer, which make waveform by DDS (LFM in simple case) and make signal band by PLL (multiplying DDS signal band). Final carier frequency around 500 MHz - 1 GHz and band like 300-500 MHz. LFM speed around 300 MHz/ms

I choose AD5932 as DDS because it's cheap and simple, but PLL is a problem.

While reading Q&A i've notice that wideband VCO inside PLL could consist of multiple narrowband VCO and it makes frequency sweep almost imposible

I wonder if anybody ever done similiar device? Does any AD PLL have truly wideband integrated VCO?

    You may want to consider purchasing a discrete VCO and using a divider to achieve the lower frequencies. The integrated PLL and VCO parts all use multi-band architectures. The HMC586 is a single band VCO, and together with an external PLL, op-amp, reference and divider it may allow you to achieve your goals.
